On our way home

I was quite glad when my people announced we were to make our way back home to Greece, the downside of the journey however would be the ferry trip though. Mr Stop'it always makes sure I'm OK (especially in the toilet things) before we board and I know this time, as we were sailing mostly in daylight he planned to take me on deck. That was to be a disappointment however, the deck was dirty and the ferry old and not really that nice. We won't be using them again. However as we planned camping on deck with the human kennel in tow, plugged into the ships power supply we all had somewhere good to relax in for the journey. In saying that I spent some time in the blue tin box, I like that so I can see what is going on around me. I guess if I dozed off on the parcel shelf I'd be a sort of  "nodding dog!!!!"

Up and off again

After we returned from our drive to Amalfi my people decided to move on from the Pompeii camp-site. Whilst they initially intended to take me to the Sorrento area, after seeing just how big it was we decided to drive on to a very nice camp-site just outside Tarranto. The Camping International site was quite big, right next to the seaside but under a mass of shady trees.  Fortunately for me as the camping season has only just started there were only two other campers on the first night, and we were totally alone on the second night. That meant I could have a good run about and chase the cats!
The camp site manager was great too, he liked me. I am in the photo above, but you will have to click on it to enlarge so you can see me........

Amalfi drive

Up early again and off in the blue tin box, this time my people decided to take me on the famous Amalfi run. Whilst the day was a bit overcast I was as excited as always to be going along. But what a disappointment the journey could be, especially if you had a low level box on wheels.  Fortunately our wheels are quite high so I could see over the concrete wall that ran allot of the way along the mountain roadside, especially when I sat on the parcel shelf !

My people tried to stop and park at several locations but it was impossible. Most pull offs were either full of motor scooters, buses or with souvenir sellers. In Amalfi itself all the parking was full, most again given to coaches, so I could not get out and have a walk about. I think I enjoy the drive to Stoupa near where we live better, and I get breakfast at the other end!

Beware of the dog

During our visit to Pompeii I heard Mr Stop'it say this was the oldest "Beware of the dog sign" he had ever seen

( I wonder if he remembers them laying it !!!!)

It all erupted......

Mmmmmm Italy, or so I am told.  We drove for quite a while and set up camp near some sort of derelict buildings. The following day my people seemed quiet enthused to want to go and have a look around. Personally I could not see what all the fuss was about, some hill in the background they said was Vesuvius and acres of part built places.  The one you can see me at above Mr Stop'it said was the Temple of Apollo. I just can't see how these humans can get such a big stone thing like that on the left launched into space !!!!!!

Were going on that !

The next part of our journey was to be a totally new experience for me, for the first time in my life I seen a giant floating kennel.  Not only could it take my people and me but it took the tin box and kennel on wheels as well!
I am not too sure if I liked it much, all that water and no where to "do what doggies do", however at least I could stay with my people and guard them as we stayed with our kennel throughout the journey to a whole new world for me........

Human kennels on the rocks!

On one of the days we camped at Paga we all went off in the tin box to Meteora. Now you humans build your kennels in some strange places but these beat all others I have seen!

I could not believe that years ago the only way you get to most of these monasteries was in a net and being hoisted up. You would not catch me doing that, and I think Mrs Stop'it agreed.
Perhaps the monks though by building these places they were slightly nearer to H.Q.

Parga & camping again

After crossing the Rio Bridge we drove for what seemed ages, fortunately for me my people are very considerate and stop every so often so I can get out and.... "well do what doggies do". We arrived in a very nice field near the beach front that was to be our home for three nights. I was very lucky to meet several people that liked me from Holland, Germany and the UK during our stay and each morning the "guv'nr" took me out for a walk along the beach before the tourists got there!

We move on.....

We spent a couple of days at Kato Allisos camp site and then it was off again. What an adventure this time!  I could see in the distance an awful lot of water and as my regular readers will know I am not to fond of having to get wet!
I must give credit to you humans the ideas you come up with to getting across water without getting your fur wet!  This bridge (as my people called it) was enormous.  It was great fun crossing it, I know a lot of my doggy friends would love all those poles............

I'm glad we waited

The next day we went to the village of Kalivrita. Now very few people know that Greece has massive snow fields in the winter and this is the place to come to enjoy skiing, snowboarding and racing snowmobiles. Now being a truly "hot dog" I am glad my people waited until all the snow had gone to take me there!
It also is the village that suffered terrible atrocities under Nazi occupation in WWII, where all the men and boys from the village were taken to the hills and shot after they were to witness the burning down of their town.
This church we went to (well my people went inside, I get tied to the rubbish bin!!!!), was rebuilt after the first church was set on fire with the women folk of the village in it. Thankfully most escaped..........
(Don't forget you can click on the photos to enlarge them and see me clearer!)

Well off I went indeed!  On the first day we set off mid morning with the human kennel on wheels attached to the blue tin box on wheels. Now from last year I know this means I am going to see lots of new places and experience lots of new doggy smells....
The camp site we stopped in was just outside Patras, a place called Kato Allisos, not bad either, nice and quiet and they liked dogs!!!
Here I am in the back of Picasso on guard duty.

Holidays.......

There has been a lot of activity around my house recently. It all started with Mr Stop'it unwrapping the human kennel on wheels. Over the last few days he has washed it and puts lots of things inside, including some of my food so that must mean I am included. Its not to bad either as I have my very own room in the human kennel !
I have heard my people talking about taking me on a ferry boat, now that will be a first for me and as I have my very own passport I guess we are all going on holiday........
In a few weeks I'll report back as to where we we went.
