Another new friend..

For the last couple of days the beach run-a-about has been more fun than normal as I made a new friend.  Whilst my housekeepers were chatting with her people we shared stories about our travels in Europe.

Like me "Fili" was a Greek stray, and found by these nice people from Slovakia in the rocks near the sea front in Filiatra as a pup a couple of years ago.  Hence her name. Since then she has travelled back and forth with them from Greece to Slovakia.......

We had great fun it running around the beach together exploring the beach huts left by some humans from the summer time.

Christmas present....

Yeah I got my present from Santa after all.  Mind you I was not allowed to open it until after we came back from the beach walk this morning, I couldn't wait. As soon as we got back home I was into it!

mmmmm a pair of shoes......
now as I have four feet do you think that's a bit mean?

Ah, sorted, they taste good guess there for eating rather than wearing then.

Hey up, I'm getting watched

Think I'll take this one downstairs and hide it before the Guv gets his hands on it, I can see he's watching through the window!

No chimney.....

And so to bed early, so Santa can come.
My stockings are hung ready awaiting the fun
Of Christmas morning and presents galore
and doggie choccy drops all over the floor!

I'm told Santa only visits good boys and girls
But I know he visits Greek doggies with curls.
So I'll leave him some biscuits and some of my meat,
I hope in return he will leave me a treat.

I'll know when he's coming, as Rex is on guard
He's the dog from next door that lives in the yard.
I told him this morning to let Santa park his sleigh
and don't bark too loudly to frighten him away

However I'm very worried about one thing, you see
The house that I live in has no real chimney
But Santa please visit, you do know the score
If there's no chimney to come down
Use the bloody door!

Early morning.....

The Guv, Misses and me were up good and early this morning for our walk on Velika beach.  A few years ago the beach front was lined by tall trees like the one I am looking at above, but now lots have been cut down by the locals looking for wood to burn to keep their homes warm in winter. Heating oil I am told by the Guv is now the same price as fuel for the "poppymobile".

The problem is this has now allowed the sea to wash the sand on to the farming fields and whilst it gives me lots of space to run about on it certainly is not doing the agriculture any good.  Unless you like sea salted potatoes that is!

I got really stumped by this one!

any umbrellas, any umbrellas to mend today...

Well a bit of a surprise this morning for me as after my beach run-a-bout the Guv and the Misses went to Kalamata city for breakfast. Mind you I got what I normally get when they breakfast out , nothing!

Now I'm not sure if they are expecting rain in Kalamata, but as you can see the side street was full of umbrellas.  The Guv said it was Christmas decoration but I think they have had a visit from "Mary Poppins", or was that "Flanagan & Allen"?

Things I want to teach you

Now I accept you humans teach us canines a lot of good things, but there are some things we canines can teach you also.
I have listed them below for all my friends................

Never pass up an opportunity to go for a joy ride

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy

When a loved one comes home, always run to greet them

When it's in your best interest, practice obedience

Let others know when they have invaded your territory

Take naps and stretch before rising

Run, romp and play daily

Eat with gusto and enthusiastically

Be loyal

Never pretend your something you're not

If what you want lies buried, dig for it

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and
nuzzle them gently.

Thrive on attention and let people hug you

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do

On hot days drink plenty of water and sit under a tree

When you're happy dance around and wag your entire body

No matter how often you are scolded, don't buy the guilt thing and
pout - run right back and make friends

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk..........

A long trip

An extra long trip out yesterday as the Guv took the Misses and me to Kalo Nero, first to the market then onto a ζαχαροπλαστειο (Greek cafe/cake shop) where they had coffee and cakes and I HAD NOTHING!

After that it was onto the beach at Kalo Nero for a good run around, well for me anyway as the Guv and Misses are too old for that!

I been thinking though, when the Guv had the blue tin box on wheels he never took it on the sand because he said only the front wheels worked and it would sink in the sand and get stuck.....now he has this red tin box he says its OK because all the wheels work.  Now I have four legs that work and I don't sink in the sand, so how come the Guv and Misses who only have two legs don't sink and get stuck ?

Plenty of room to run....

Another great morning for a beach walk, this time on the sands near Velika (I am so lucky to have so much choice) mind you the Guv would not let me go and visit the canines that live near the beach and all three were calling for me!

New friends

The beach walk the other morning was great fun. Instead of the normal beaches we go to at Risomylos, Velika or Petalidi the Guv went to Analypsi and I got to meet a whole new group of canine friends.

The young pup and I had a grand old time running about and rolling in the sand whilst his dad watched on.  The pups mother did not join in and stayed a distance away, perhaps next time she will come and play as well........

I'm back on line....

Well a whole three weeks without telephones or internet and finally a guy in a blue tin box on wheels comes and sorts it!  Well nearly sorts it as the current internet speed I have is about as fast as the Guv opening his wallet to pay for the Misses hair do's!

Now I was telling my friend Rex all about how the sky produced these flashes and bangs that caused all this problem.  "No need to tell me" he said, "You at least got to go inside and hide away from it all, I got left out in it!"

He's right, I'm lucky really as most of my Greek canine friends get left outside all the time no matter what the weather.  If they are lucky (huh) they get a metal barrel to sleep in!  Despite my country having very strict animal care laws (in fact stricter than even the UK), no one enforces them!

Anyway, as I said "I'm back" so over the next few days I'll tell you about a new group of friends I have made.........
