Hot Dog.....

So we finally got to our French pad and was I glad of that?, all that travelling! One thing at least this time we never had to wait for removal men to deliver our furniture, it was all here, in saying that there is still a lot for my people to unpack.

I thought once again I would keep out of the way, and do a bit of sunbathing in the garden, but that did not last...temperatures today went over 40C, in fact I became a very "hot dog"...even hotter than when in Greece.

...until the cows come home

The Col de Mont Cenis is of course the entry from Italy to France and we were well on our way for our second "human kennel" for the night in Chambery. One of the villages we passed through, Termignol I had seen before on a previous trip to France.

I think the rest of the journey is going to be very quiet, as the Guv says the Misses can talk until the "cows come home".......and I just seen them heading home !

Up and over........

Even after arriving late at the human kennel, my people were up early morning, had their breakfast and we were off again.  It was goodbye to Italy and it's traffic jams and into France via Mont Cenis (only because the Guv was too mean to pay the Frejus tunnel toll!).  Mind you the drive over the mountains was once again spectacular, and I was able to get out for a run-a-bout in the fields

More zzzzzz's

As I told you the ferry was five hours late, now that meant we docked in Ancona at 7 pm.  OK, I knew the Guv had planned a human kennel stop for the night in Parma so just 2 hours and we'll be there, right?

WRONG....

The Italian motorway speed limit is 130kph, well let me tell you they might as well cross off the "1", because for miles, and miles we never even reached 30kph !  So once again all that I could do was to kip down and sleep.

Exactly what my people did when they reached their kennel after MIDNIGHT !

Delay, delay, delay......

OK, so we get to Igoumenitsa  and book in for the ferry as the Guv was told to do 2 hours before the sailing time of midnight, and he gets told its going to be 2 hours late.  Was he happy, NO.....and got even more unhappy as some 5 hours later the ferry had not arrived !  In fact we did not set sail until 4am.....

There was only one thing for me to do.... S L E E P.....

I'm welcomed...

So finally after a long journey we are in my home in France. First though let me tell you about our trip. The Guv loaded up the "poppymobile" but I still got all the rear seat YEH!  As you can see we also took the metal cage on wheels that was very full of goodies and also some of my belongings.

When we arrived at the ferry port in Igoumenitsa my Greek canine friends had arranged a welcoming committee for me....it's great being famous !

Last looks

Well it's all pack, pack, pack ready for another European adventure with my people. I'm keeping check that they pack my baskets and food trays, but this morning I thought I'd take one good long look at the beach as I guess it will be the last time I go on an early morning beach run-a-bout for a little while.

Laced up !

Some of my human friends know that the Misses in her spare time makes lace, so as I have never put any photographs on my blog I thought it about time the Guv took a couple to show you.  Of course the photo taken on my balcony needed that little extra to make it beautiful ......

Hot,hot,hot

Last night was HOT, even at 2000hrs the temperature was still at 34 C, too hot for even me, a Greek canine!  The Guv was up early as normal this morning and off we went on the beach walk, but now at 1000hrs its over 35 C already...I'm going to take it easy today.........

Suntan ?

It's rather hot here today with temperatures in the upper 30's C even in the shade, I thought I'd better get a bit of a suntan before I set off to France this weekend .  Mind you not that I can stay out in the sun too long, us blonds have to be careful you know.

I'm in trouble AGAIN!

OK, yes I'm in trouble again!  You see on the beach walk this morning the Guv was a bit slow keeping up with me and I found this real nice smelly & messy gunge to roll about in.

The Guv got some of it off before I was allowed back in the "poppymobile" but once back home I was taken to the the rain room to be sorted!

Mind you I must admit I do like the Misses giving me a blow dry with her fur dryer afterwards......

On the tiles !!

So last night the Guv and the Misses went out and left me all alone at home! However this morning they produced a surprise for me, it appears they had been told about this lady who paints pictures on very old roof tiles, and look this one is OF ME !

I think the tiles are even older than the Guv, handmade and probably over 300 years old!

Hot, hot, hot.....

It really was not that hot on the beach this morning as we normally get up quite early, however it did make me think that some of you humans forget us canines do not have shoes to wear!

Now whilst our paws are quite tough, so are the soles of human feet, but I bet some of you will not walking without shoes on hot sandy beaches this summer!
Likewise you would not consider walking on hot tarmac pavements & roads....

But DO YOU THINK about us canines when you walk us ?

REMEMBER we burn as well..........

Greengreen (or rather brown) grass of home

I thought today I would show you some of my garden I'm allowed to run around in.  The first photo the Guv took this morning from the bedroom balcony, the second is of the front driveway and the third of the rear garden.  As you will see it's been rather dry here and the grass is turning brown.  Not that the Guv minds that.....less mowing he says!

The end of the line.....

You recall what I was saying about this pipe thing?  Well this morning I decided to go back and have another good sniff around it and investigate, I mean I need to make sure that my Greek coastline is safe and it was not an air inlet pipe to some illegal immigrant hiding cave don't I?

So I had a good sniff and decided to track down the other end.....I found it (I think) but it was the other side of this river, and I'm not a very good swimmer! I think I'll let the Guv investigate from here...................

It's here.....

Now I know my Greek friends will have knowledge of the Greek-Russian gas pipe line deal that's causing all this controversy at the moment.  Well I think it's all too late as the Russians have broken through already !  You see I found the pipe coming up through the sand on the beach this morning, either that or it's a Russian submarine that has beached and upped it's periscope .......
